The Warfighter Academy is a training facility located in San Diego County. We implement a unique learning approach for our members, providing interactive training combined with video readiness assessments during which we film and evaluate our clients’ performance instantly and develop a strategy for improvement.
Our curriculum was developed by our Master Instructor, Dave Maynard, over the last 40 years. Dave Maynard became a Navy SEAL in 1972 and completed his last combat deployment 2012. In those years he has completed upwards of 30 combat deployments, toured the Middle East and trained with every high-speed group and government agency. He is considered one of the leading authorities in the world of gun fighting, and the lead authority on tactical low-light training. Our members will benefit from a combined 75 years of elite military experience, training with prior service combat Veterans. We offer individual skill-sets in different formats with varying levels of courses for every experience level.
The instructor staff comes from varying backgrounds ranging from United States Navy SEALs to Marines and Army Soldiers. Each individual is dedicated to arming the citizens of America with the knowledge they need to improve their odds of survival. It is our goal to instill proper techniques, skill-sets, mental preparedness, and confidence to responsible individuals to protect and serve.
It is the mission of this company to increase the survivability rate of those we serve utilizing the training, experience and practical skills of prior service combat Veterans.
Through Warfighter Academy, we are giving prior service combat Veterans a chance to continue their mission with a new group of brothers and sisters by training concerned citizens, corporate institutions, military, and law enforcement groups. Our instructors are 100% combat Veterans, which provides our Veterans with a continued purpose in life after the military, and presents our members with the best experience in the field.
Warfighter Academy offers a safe, high adrenaline course of instruction from basic fundamental to advanced close quarter skills in an enjoyable and exciting atmosphere. Our training is conducted with “force on force” skill-sets with the use of non-lethal training rounds so the students can engage in the actual art of gunfighting. This opens the scope of training and allows the students to exceed their boundaries that are often limited when in a live fire environment with real ammunition. Our facility offers 32,000 square feet of indoor training space, allowing for versatile scenarios and unpredictable training environments.
Warfighter Academy’s roots go back to off-site, mobile training. We spent many years travelling all over training some of the best warriors this country has ever produced the art of force on force, low light, land warfare, and many other skill-sets that we have mastered over the decades. Some groups just don’t have the ability to come out to our facility and train with us, or they have a mission specific purpose for wanting to train in their venue. Either way we can accommodate to each client’s needs. We are not a one-size fits all company, we adapt to the need.
With the ability to be mobile it really shows us to reach out and connect with everyone around the country and help facilitate their needs and fill training gaps. Our footprint is much larger than your typical instructor at the range with his gun case, but that’s due to our entire curriculum being force on force based. This requires us to bring our own training weapons, rounds, safety equipment, training environment components, etc.
With being able to combine our old curriculum with our new civilian based programs this gives us a very comprehensive reach allowing us to train anyone from stay at home soccer moms to the most seasoned professionals with very little notice.
Dave Maynard (Navy SEAL, SEAL Team-1)
Dave is the Master Instructor at Warfighter Academy. Simply put, Warfighter Academy would not exist without Dave’s experiences and extensive knowledge. Dave began his career graduating BUDs Class of 69 in 1972, at which point he was assigned to SEAL Team 1. Over the next 40+ years Dave would go on to deploy to multiple combat zones not only as a Navy SEAL, but later on as a contractor for Blackwater and Global Response Services (GRS). Dave’s combined deployments range from Afghanistan to Iraq to Lebanon to the streets of New Orleans during the events of Hurricane Katrina. Between deployments as a contractor, Dave worked for Sempra Energy providing Executive Protection for Corporate Executives. In addition to providing security and conducting combat operations overseas, Dave worked as a field-tester for the engineering department of SureFire, LLC. Throughout his time working as a contractor for SureFire, Dave developed state-of-the-art techniques related to the use of flashlights in low/no light situations. Dave completed his last combat deployment in 2012, and since then has continued to develop his curriculum in an ever-changing environment where the tactics and technology continues to evolve. Over the course of Dave’s career, he stood up the original SureFire Institute, and in the early ‘90s he created Combative Concepts, Inc. Dave has taught elite forces such as: MARSOC, Rangers, Teir-1 assets overseas, multiple SWAT groups throughout the nation, and the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team to name a few. To this day, Dave is known throughout the world as the premier expert on gunfighting and the authority on low-light techniques.
